General Assistance Director Duties:
- Administer the General Assistance program (emergency relief) as prescribed by current state law & county ordinances, interviewing applicants and determining eligibility and amount of financial assistance for basic needs such as rent, utilities, medical and burial.
- Prepare the budget for the program.
- Meet with the O'Brien County Board of Supervisors with change in ordinances, answer questions regarding assistance approval and recommendations.
- Investigate legal residence of all persons who the county is asked to pay a cost for services.
Central Point of Coordination Administrator (CPC) duties:
- Administer the CPC program as prescribed by current state law and administrative rules in accordance with the O'Brien County Managed Care Plan for Mental Health/Mental Retardation/Developmentally Disabled services, determining eligibility and funding availability for requested services.
- Prepare yearly mental health budget for services.
- Investigate and determine legal settlement and residence on all persons for whom the county is asked to pay a cost for MH/MR/DD services.
- Work with case management staff including billing and recording of required data.
- A major duty of a CPC is collaboration with consumers, stakeholders, judicial systems, Iowa Department of Human Services, schools, public health, providers, AEA, law enforcement, empowerment areas, ministerial association, area businesses, other counties, and the communities within the county.
