History of the United Methodist Church
On April 23, 1968, The United Methodist Church was created when Bishop Reuben H. Mueller, representing The Evangelical United Brethren Church, and Bishop Lloyd C. Wicke of The Methodist Church joined hands at the constituting General Conference in Dallas, Texas. With the words, "Lord of the Church, we are united in Thee, in Thy Church and now in The United Methodist Church," the new denomination was given birth by two churches that had distinguished histories and influential ministries in various parts of the world. |

We exist to develop, in the power of the Holy Spirit, persons who know, enjoy and share Jesus.
Our vision is to be an accepting, Spirit-filled community where everyone knows Jesus as Lord and Savior, enjoys Jesus in worship, fellowship, discipleship and service, and joins God in ministry by sharing Jesus with others in word, action and life. |

We are an independent Baptist church seeking to live out the beliefs and practices of God’s Word in the "old paths" of historical Baptist beliefs. We believe in the centrality of old fashioned worship to God and the preaching of God’s Word in a clear way that speaks to the heart of mankind. We use the King James Version of the scriptures. We practice Bible memorization together as a church.
We seek to be truly a spiritual family for each active attendee to our church, loving and caring one for another. We seek to live in a sanctified way, separating ourselves from the sins and lusts of the old nature. |

The Sanborn Christian Reformed Church (CRC) is a Bible believing church founded on Calvinistic principles. We believe in the Triune God, Father - Son - Holy Spirit. God the Father sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins through His death and resurrection; The Holy Spirit enables us to live lives of graditude. We subscribe to The Heidelberg Catechism, The Belgic confession, and the Canons of Dort |

It is our desire to be a congregation with a 1st Century mission for a 21st Century world. It’s a message that is set forth by the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:18-20. Therefore, we are a part of the Restoration Movement which, for over a century and a half, has pleaded for the unity of all believers on the basis of the Bible alone.
It is our desire to complete this mission through involvement in life-changing learning experiences in the Word of God, loving interpersonal relationships with each other, and effective spiritual and personal outreach. |

We call ourselves Christian because we are followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was the Son of God and that he is the center of human history. We're called Reformed because we grow on a branch of the church tree that emerged from the Protestant Reformation in sixteenth-century Europe. We're a Church because we believe God has called us together to be a people who belong to him and live for him. North America tells you where we are situated; but it also tells you we're connected with other Reformed denominations in other places around the globe. |

First Reformed Church is a congregation of Christ’s church, seeking to lift our hearts in worship of God, and living our lives in the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. Our vision statement gives us direction: The cross is the heart of our message – Jesus saves; our mission is telling others; and our ministry is loving service. |

WELCOME to First Reformed Church of Sheldon, Iowa! The Lord set us on our journey together on April 23, 1895 when nine families and four single persons began to meet together for worship. We used the sanctuary of another church for our first four years but then built our first church structure in October of 1899. God blessed First Reformed and we grew to the point that it was evident that we needed a larger church and sanctuary so the lot was purchased on our present location.
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is to be our only rule of faith and practice. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He is God the Son. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity and it is through His power that each of us is equipped to live the Christian life. |

We are a people that God has brought together in His love to accomplish two vital things. -By God's grace we strenthen God's Faithful People so that we can reach out to the lost. -Strengthened by the love of God that is declared to us in His Word, and built up together as we join in those precious sacraments God has given for just that purpose.
